Kitesurfing in Spain

The volcanic island group of the Canaries just outside Africa’s West coast is a Spanish overseas territory attracting thousands of European tourists every year. Each island has its particular feel, but for kitesurfing it’s mainly Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, and maybe Tenerife’s El Medano that will be of interest. Europe’s kite Mecca has an all year around wind season, predominantly with prevailing winds Poniente and Levante. These wind directions take turn to power the kites most days of the week. If you’re planning a trip to Tarifa you can go any time of the year, but May to September has a lot more sun and warm weather.
